I found a magazine called Family Tree. This is the only genealogy magazine I know of. If you know others, please email and I will post links to them here.

Medlin Clan and Kin in America was written by Pearl Foster O'Donnell and Mrs. Helen Wheeler Ocheltree in 1976

I've been told by many people that this book contains much undocumented information.  If much of the information written is personal opinion or stories that were verbally passed down through the generations, then I suggest you research the information before adding it to your personal family tree.

It is stated in the book that Hall Medlin led the wagon that left Texas April 15, 1868 headed to California.  This is the same wagon train in Kate Medlin's wagon train story.  In 1907 Kate told the story to a newspaper reporter in California.  She talked about the wagon master and his family as if they were  strangers, not family members.  In her story Kate identifies several family members with the wagon train, including her father and brother in law who died on the trip.  She made no mention of Hall Medlin.  This leads me to believe that the wagon master was not Hall Medlin and that statement in the Medlin Clan and Kin in America book may have been an inaccurate family story told to one of the authors.

As with all information on this site, this book is presented as a general information guide.  It may provide leads for you to follow.  Please don't accept it as documented information until you document it yourself.
